1. A1C
Airman First Class, 2nd rank of the United States Air Force Enlisted Corps
2. AOR
Area of Responsibility
3. BMT
Basic Military Training. In the context of this blog, that would be Air Force Basic Military Training, held at Lackland AFB, TX. A 6-week long period in which civilians transform into enlisted members of the Air Force.
4. BOT
Basic Officer Training. In the context of this blog it refers to Air Force Basic Officer Training.
5. DFAC
Dining Facility
6. IPT
Integrated Product Team. A consolidated team of people consisting of (at least) the Project Manager, Lead Engineer, and contract specialists. Relevant to defense acquisition.
7. MTC
Mission Training Center. In my case, this is where we run flight simulators to train pilots to actually go drop bombs and kill bad guys.
8. OTS
Officer Training School. Program where civilians and enlisted personnel who already hold Bachelors degrees are run through a "60 training day" course and granted commission to 2nd Lieutenant upon completion. I'm in class 09-03, and we graduate 24 February 08.
9. PCS
Permanent Change of Station, where a military member is assigned to a new base located somewhere else in the world, and the member, member's family, and all their belongings are moved to the new location at the Government's expense.

Point of Contact
12. PTL
Physical Training Leader. Leads the unit in exercise and advises the commander on issues related to physical fitness of troops.
13. SECAF
Secretary of the Air Force, the top position in the Air Force branch of service, held by a civilian. Reports to the Secretary of Defense, who in turn reports to the President of the United States.
14. Snack-O
Snack Officer, in charge of keeping the unit snack bar stocked. Proceeds go towards buying gifts for members leaving the organization as a way to thank them for their hard work.
15. TI
Training Instructor. In the context of my life the TI is the NCO that trains all newly enlisted recruits on the basics of how to be an Enlisted Airman. All enlisted have memories, good and bad, of their TI from BMT.
